Hosted by the Academy of Music, Macau University of Science and Technology, the Prof. C. Victor Fung Lecture Series will take place from May 19 to May 27, 2026 at MUST, Academy of Music. The series features Prof. C. Victor Fung, Director of the Ph.D. Program at the School of Music, University of South Florida, USA.
C. Victor Fung (馮志強) is author/editor of six books, three published by Oxford University Press and one each by Cambridge University Press, Routledge, and Springer. Two of them have been translated into Chinese, available as 音樂教育之道:中國經典智慧 (上海音樂學院出版社, 2024) and 音悅人生:音樂參與和年長者的生活質量 (上海教育出版社, 2021). He also has authored over ten book chapters and numerous research articles in professional journals such as International Journal of Music Education, Journal of Research in Music Education, Philosophy of Music Education Review, and Psychology of Music. He has served as reviewer for many journals and a few book publishers and as editor for three journals.
His work mainly focuses on Chinese philosophies in music education and empirical studies in global music preferences and pedagogies and older adults’ music participation. He was a Fulbright Specialist in Brazil (2025) and a Fulbright Researcher in Japan (2018). He has given over a hundred presentations at professional conferences and numerous open lectures at over thirty universities and music conservatories in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America.
He is currently on the Executive Committee of the Society for Research in Music Education under the auspices of the National Association for Music Education (USA) and of the International Society for the Philosophy of Music Education. Previously, he was a Board Member of the International Society for Music Education, Florida Music Education Association, and College Music Society.
