講者簡介:Professor Donal Fitzpatrick is the Director of the Research Centre for Cultural Ecologies in Art, Design and Architecture at the University of Huddersfield in the UK and previously served as its Head of Department for Art & Communications. Before joining the University in England he was most recently a Deputy Director of Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, Brisbane, Australia. He has held many senior academic positions in both Australia and New Zealand, including serving as head of schools and departments. He is very committed to trans-disciplinary creative practice and has pursued innovative curriculum reform to facilitate cross discipline teaching and research collaborations throughout his academic career. He holds three Visiting Professorships at the Universities of Jinan and Shandong University of the Arts in China and at the National University of the Arts, Bucharest in Romania.

He is a practicing visual artist and writer who holds a Masters Degree in Fine Art, an Honours degree in Philosophy and a PhD and is a Senior Fellow of Higher Education Academy. He has supervised over 30 creative doctoral students to successful completion and worked in collaboration as an artist, illustrator and creative writer on special projects for film, advertising and publication. He was the art critic for the national daily newspaper The West Australian. His creative visual research is concerned with developing a new understanding of ‘memory’ and its relationship to invention and the creative imagination and is deeply informed by the work of the French philosopher Alain Badiou. He has exhibited his creative research internationally at exhibitions ranging from the Sydney Biennale to the Asialink travelling exhibition ‘Confluence’. Most recently his experimental graphic investigations were the subject of large solo exhibitions at Kielce in Poland and Jinan China and Macau. His recent research focuses on the investigative strategies of Art & Design in exploring the human and post human convergence in the symbiotic real and the Anthropocene.
