The Faculty of Humanities and Arts was founded in 2008 ，and has become the second-largest faculty at Macau University of Science and Technology. It has established a strong reputation in Macau and  Asia Pacific region.

The faculty offers a total of 21 undergraduate, master, and doctoral programs, including Communication, Design, Fine Arts, Film, Architecture, Digital Media, Acting Musicology and Game Design. The social science subject, to which the communication discipline belongs, ranks in the No. 176-200 range in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2026 for social sciences subject. The faculty has a total undergraduate and graduate enrollment of about 5,000.

The faculty has established the Macao Media Research Center, Digital Innovation and Humanities Education Research Center and the Macao World Heritage Conservation and Development Research Center. The Macao Media Research Center is the partner research base of the Information and Communication Research Center of Fudan University, which is a key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.

The teaching method highlights a practice through which students’ technical abilities, adaptation, and creativity are nurtured, and has set up diverse laboratories and studios.
